Experience Summary
Over the course of my years as a Learning Specialist in a university setting, and as Master Tutor Certified by The College Reading and Learning Association, I have developed and refined successful techniques with students who may struggle with the following: executive functioning issues, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, Asberger’s Syndrome, English as a Second Language, and various non-verbal learning disabilities. MI also have experience working with students on application essays for undergraduate and graduate school admissions, the Peace Corps, Junior Year Abroad programs, scholarships, and artist grants.
Teaching Style
Whether I am helping a student with prioritizing assignments, studying for tests, teaching study skills, or guiding him or her process of writing papers, I strive to promote metacognitive awareness throughout the tutoring experience. Students ultimately need to develop an awareness of how they learn best and what strategies work for them. It is my job to facilitate this process while yielding improved academic results through collaboration with students along the way.
