Experience Summary
I graduated from MSU in 2001 with a degree in Int'l Relations and Business. In 2007 I returned to school. During that time I took all the pre-reqs for the Accelerated Nursing program, earning a 4.0 in each. The classes included psych, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, bio and chem.
I have been tutoring professionally for about 2 years now, but before that I worked with a lot of my friends and family.
I struggled with ADD/ADHD while in school, and had to teach myself the skills to become a good student. Those skills include time mgmt, organization, prioritizing, etc. Over the last 2 years, I have worked with students of all ages. Subjects include Algebra, Geometry, ACT test prep, Chem, Psych, etc.
Teaching Style
I believe that many students do not know how to study, and are unsure of where to begin. This is especially true for students entering college, or high school, who never really had to study before. As a tutor, it is my job to help the student break down the material into manageable parts and teach them to identify what is important, and how to get organized. The role of a tutor is to not give you the answers, but to help you get the answers on your own. I can show you how to problem solve, and help with test stress. I am available most evenings, and anytime on the weekends. I am also a member of the International Tutoring Association, and feel free to view my profile on LinkedIn at: http://www.linkedin.com/in/margaretholda
