Experience Summary
I was enrolled in the Master's Program for Elementary Education at the University of Florida and volunteered over 300 hours in the public school system. I have only one year left before obtaining my advanced degree should I decide to return to school. I have also been a tutor and mentor for at-risk youth. I have volunteered with the public library and used to spend one day a week reading to children in foster homes. I have spent the past year as a Lead Teacher in Colorado where I was able to have my own classroom, assistant and students. I have worked with several children with special needs and was able to work with several professionals in the best way to teach my students.
Teaching Style
I keep an open mind that most children learn in different ways. I try to provide lots of different ways of learning the same subject. I have a background in Anthropology and have traveled extensively throughout the globe and feel that it is my duty to make my teaching style multicultural and to make sure that no one is falling through the cracks. I try to laugh and smile a lot and find that students are more able to open up to me when I do. I always try to lead by example and do everything that I expect my students to do. It is very important to have high expectations for the students and to let them know what those expectations are.
