Experience Summary
I have had some minor experiences as a teacher’s aide. Some of these included working one-on-one with children needing assistance in 7th grade language arts classes. I worked under the tutelage of two 7th grade language arts teachers. I prepared lessons, taught classes, and assessed student progress, supervised by the cooperating teachers. I was able to see how they both handled the curriculum, as well as managing their classes. However, I have not been strictly confined to the classroom.
I served as a student assistant to the director of secondary education for a small urban school district. I read and reviewed curriculum guides. Lessons were to meet state standards. Endowing knowledge to children is my passion.
Teaching Style
I believe that every child can learn. It is up to the teacer to determine his/hers learning style and adapt to it. I am a strong proponent of active learning, where the student is involved in the material using more than one of the senses enabling better recognition, recall and understanding. I also believe that every student needs and deserves one-on-one time with the teacher to address any concerns on the lesson and to answer any questions.I am very patient and will go over material until it is comprehended, using a variety of examples.
