Experience Summary
The majority of my teaching experience occurred when I was in college. I was studying to be a social worker and worked part-time in the library. I also worked as a Sociology Teacher's Assistant and tutored other college students in the core science class. In Zimbabwe, I spent a summer teaching Bible class, tutoring special needs children in all subjects, coaching a girls field hockey team, and running a weekly youth program called AWANA. In PA, I tutored elementary school students in reading and math in an inner-city after school program. I hope to tutor elementary school students in reading, math, or other basic subjects. My strengths with high school students would be in social sciences such as psychology and sociology.
Teaching Style
I value education and believe that given the right atmosphere and encouragement students can reach their goals. I love learning myself and am always fascinated by new things. This tends to be contagious in my encounters with others. I enjoy working with children and have worked in social services for seven years. I am the type of person that does not give up. If something is not working one way, then we try it another way. This would certainly come out in my teaching. I enjoy using examples because this is what tends to be remembered most. I am organized and feel it is important to complete tasks. I will hold my students accountable to doing their best and will encourage them in their educational pursuits whenever possible.
