Experience Summary
For three years, I have taught reading and remedial English part time at Valencia Community College. I also have four years' experience tutoring English, reading, and algebra at Valencia and Rollins College. Working in two writing centers, I have helped create grammar exercises for remedial students. I also have done one-on-one tutoring and online writing consultations. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Liberal Studies in Humanities.
Teaching Style
As a teacher, I believe in keeping the students engaged by varying activities and engaging different styles of learning (ie using visuals, interactive lecturing, and hands-on activities). When I tutor, I also try to use similar tactics to keep the students engaged in the activity at hand. I believe in being very patient and easy-going, but firm when needed. Students must want to learn, but also I believe a good teacher can help facilitate that process.
