Experience Summary
I have been teaching and tutoring students since the 1980's, both in Israel (where I completed my B.A.) and in the United States, first as a graduate student and then as an Assistant Professor of English. My background of studies includes many humanities and social sciences (English Literature, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, English Composition), and I have extensive knowledge of science and math subjects at the high school level. I have worked with students from many backgrounds and cultures.
Teaching Style
I am a born teacher, and I love the challenge of bringing students who are less than engaged in the learning process to becoming eager and confident learners. I am patient, though I also believe in setting goals and reaching benchmarks and deadlines. My basic philosophy is that all young people are not only able to learn but also capable of much more than they or their environment may believe. My goal is to increase their confidence by praising their successes, and to hone their skills by expecting rigorous application of their efforts to the learning tasks at hand.
