Experience Summary
I am a passionate educator with five years of teaching experience ranging from middle school through high school. I have three years of administrative experience in a K-8 program. During my tenure I was responsible for writing curriculum and assisting teachers with implementation. My area of strength is literacy. I am a reading teacher first and know how to effectively diagnosis a child’s reading deficiency and create a plan of action to assist the child to become a better reader. I am fluent in mathematical concepts through Algebra II and have strong creative writing skills.
Teaching Style
I am a true believer that in order to effectively teach a child you must know the child’s learning style. Some children are visual learners while others are auditory. This method of teaching is essential in the tutoring aspect. I am a practitioner of culturally responsive teaching, which uses the cultural knowledge, prior experiences, and performance styles of students to make learning more appropriate and effective for them; it teaches to and through the strengths of students. I know each student is capable of learning. It is my responsibility to tap into their interest and knowledge level to assist them through the learning process.
