Experience Summary
I tutored children from the neighborhood so often, I decided to get paid for it. I received my Bachelor degree in Anthropology and my "lifetime" teaching credential (any self contained) from California. When I retired, I discovered I still wanted to teach. I was in Salt LakeCity, UT and taught Kindergarten for 6 years. Upon hearing that Florida needed teachers, I sold out and moved to Florida in time to find a glutted field. I still know that I will only be happy if I am doing what I do best: teaching the youth of today for the challenges of tomorrow. I am continuously educating myself and hope to spend the rest of my life in school.
Teaching Style
I like to learn where the student is (not the age/grade, etc) and build from there. Success for the student is very important because without confidence, we are all lost. I like to be organized with certain levels to be attained. Achieving those levels and goals sometimes calls for creativity and diversity. I like to think of myself as creative and adaptable. I have many materials which have proven to be very successful for building confidence and ability while filling in the missing gaps for the student. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery and in providing a constructivist approach to learning.
