Experience Summary
After graduating college, I moved to California to earn my teaching credential. I earned it in K-12 Multiple Subject education. I have have 3 years experience teaching, and currently teach 1st grade in Cincinnati Public schools. I have tutored most all elementary grades, and have about 6 years experience doing so. I am patient with students, and my friendly demeanor helps them to be at ease. I am most experienced tutoring in reading, phonics and literacy, but also can tutor in elementary math, English as a Second language, or middle school or high school grammar and writing. Currently I teach English as a Second language students, so that is an area that I can tutor as well.
Teaching Style
I teach a hands on curriculum as much as possible. I constantly have visuals, or hands on manipulatives to helps students gain a better understanding. I believe that it's important to understand students' learning styles, and try to teach in a manner that "taps" into the various styles. I put a lot of pride into my career as a teacher, and am determined not to give up on students. Often I feel that such a great factor in a child's success is their self esteem. I consistently work to build up their self esteem to encourage them along the way.
