Experience Summary
I knew I wanted to teach five minutes into my first teaching job. In 2010, I graduated SUNY Old Westbury College earning certification in Special Education (1-6) and Childhood Education (1-6). As one of the older matriculating students in the class and a mother of two girls, I have seen how different methods of teaching worked with different children. Being a wife and mother, for sure, are meaningful life experiences; but as a dance teacher working with children, I am familiar with the discipline it takes to achieve specifically defined goals. For the past 20 years I have taught ballet. I student taught in a high needs school district and am familiar with state standards.
Teaching Style
I say with confidence that my life experiences, enthusiasm, energy, passion for teaching and honed instincts as a teacher make me more confident, driven, enthusiastic and employable than the average new graduate. I am able to challenge students and set realistic goals. I inspire enthusiasm in students which leads to active and engaged learning. I am patient and make a point of treating every child with respect. Additionally, I find it very important to find strenghts in every child. I am committed to help children bridge what they learn today into what they want to become. I believe that providing a child with long term academic study skills is far more effective than short term, quick fix skills.
