Experience Summary
While earning my BA from Oakland University, I would often tutor my fellow students and help them refine their papers. In addition to the sharp grammar skills required by my major, the numerous papers that I wrote have given me a broad general knowledge base which expands beyond the purely literary. I have also judged for the Oakland County Fair for the past two years, helping young people develop their skills in both the performing and visual arts. In addition, over the last two years, I have worked as a fact-checker and proofreader, both freelance and as an intern. I have also played acoustic guitar for 13 years.
Teaching Style
My pedagogical style adjusts itself according to the needs of the student. I am typically patient, and considerate, yet I can be firm if I need to be. No one person learns the same way, and my goal is to provide the best possible education, customized for a student's needs. I believe in a hands on approach, and my goal is to guide the student to his or her own discoveries, which I believe makes a stronger impression than simple memorization can offer. I believe strongly that education is the single most important gift that you can give yourself, and my constructive approach reflects this belief.
