Experience Summary
I have a BS in Elementary Education. I taught first grade for 7 years, teaching reading, math, science, history and writing. I also tutored at Sylvan Learning Center for three years in Reading, Math (including Algebra I), Writing, Advanced Reading, ACT prep and Writing. I have a passion for Reading and believe students who are good readers can excel in any subject, including Math and Science. I have helped students in programs designed to foster success in middle school, high school and college. I am patient, make connections with most students and have been credited with putting many students on a successful path.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is to find out what a student is good at and build on that success to improve areas of concern. I use humor and a laid back style with organization and skills to increase probability of success in academic areas. I believe every student is different and learning styles are unique. I keep coming at a problem in different ways until we find a method that works. I listen to the student and approach difficulties as challenges giving the student courage and confidence.
