Experience Summary
After receiving a degree in Sociology from a New York State University, I went on to earn a provisional teaching certificate in Biology. I have twenty-one graduate hours in Reading and eleven graduate hours in Early Childhood Education. My previous work experience had me working with families where one adult was in need of a GED. I have tutored students from elementary through high school in every subject (except Foreign Languages) for over ten years. I have also worked with entering BOCES LPN students on math review and raised many of their entry level grades twenty points. I have also been very successful tutoring children with behavior problems.
Teaching Style
Teaching young people and seeing them succeed is such a reward. Many students find the conventional school setting difficult and work with greater success in a one on one setting. Getting to know the student and his or her learning style along with some background enables a tutor to create an atmosphere where the student will be most successful. The student can feel comfortable asking questions, which is not always the case in a traditional classroom. My goal as a tutor is to have a student comfortable and successful!
