Experience Summary
As both a Title One teacher and tutor for three years I know firsthand the needs of struggling students and how to help them excel. I am familiar with all types of tests:Dar, Dibels, Peabody, Fair, Fcat. I am proficient in using many interventions: Beck, Great Leaps, Spiral& Build Up, etc. My experience is in reading, writing and math interventions with whole group, small group and individuals but am comfortable with and enjoy all aspects/subjects of teaching. Having two children of my own is added experience. (7th&11th gr) I know what's expected from parent and teacher. This gives me an edge in understanding both perspectives. Bridging the gap of communication between parents and teachers is key to ultimate success of students.
Teaching Style
I feel that teaching is truly the most rewarding job I have ever had and not many people can say that. My teaching style is professional, patient and kind.This is most important because most of my students are struggling academically as well as financially. Every child is different in their personalities and needs. It is my job to find how to motivate them while making learning fun and successful. Former students tell me how much they miss working with me! I think I have made a difference as many of my students scores go up and I am no longer needed. Their confidence level goes up as well and they will continue to excel. One cannot put a price on how rewarding that feels. After all, we are educating the leaders of tomorrow.
