Experience Summary
I taught for fourteen years in an urban public school system where I had the privilege to educate children from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. Throughout my career, I have organized Science Fairs, taught pilot programs for Test Taking Skills and Mentally Gifted classes, was the lead fifth grade reading teacher, and have mentored colleagues. In addition, I have taught self-contained classes from grades four to eight.
Teaching Style
My teaching style includes a proactive approach. I encourage student participation through hands-on activities, inquiry, thought provoking prompts, and cooperative group learning. Objectives are clearly defined and communicated to my pupils prior to each lesson and I usually close with a summary.
