Experience Summary
I have received a Bachelors degree in both math and physics, as well as a Masters in applied math. All through college, and even back in high school, I excelled in both math and science. So, though my degrees are in math, I also have a well rounded knowledge of the rest of the sciences. I've also completed a Masters project that required me to explain technical concepts in a readily understandable way. During my education I have spent a lot of time helping my classmates, as well as tutoring for college level courses.
Teaching Style
I believe that tutors are most effective as supplements to classroom teaching. It's my job to clear up questions that might not have been answered, or to take the time to explain the fundamental concepts necessary to continue with the material. I also believe that our time together is best served when the student has already attempted some work and comes prepared with specific questions. I'm willing to spend a long time explaining concepts in different ways, and multiple times. I don't mind building off of ideas learned several weeks before in order to ensure the student understands the current material.
