Experience Summary
As a missionary for the LDS Church in Arizona, I was speaking with the Hispanic people for more than 10 hours a day. We taught in their homes, we learned their culture, and came to gain a great respect for work. As I have returned home after two years of service I now attend school at BYU-Idaho. My current Spanish class is Span321 which is advanced grammar and composition. I tested out of Span101-202 with an A average. I plan to get my B.A. in linguistics and my interests continue to grow as I study.
Teaching Style
While I was serviing as a missionary, I had the chance to train three missionaries. What that entailed was basic people skills, understanding the language, and helping them to gain confidence in themselves through speaking. That is what I would like to describe the way that I teach. It would be very time effective and they would see results very fast. As I constantly speak to them, they would be able to use the material and feel more confident in their abilities. Not only would it be a fantastic experience for any student, but I would try to re-enforce the idea that learning can be fun.
