Experience Summary
As a recent college graduate, I understand the demands and expectations of high level educational achievement. I earned two bachelor degrees from the University of Maine, BS in Secondary Education in Mathematics and BA in Mathematics, and I feel confident that education has prepared me to teach a wide variety of mathematical disciplines. In addition to my education, I have experience student teaching in multiple unique educational environments and taught mathematics ranging from 6th grade math to high school calculus. During my last two years of college, I also held a paid tutoring position in a after-school academic program where I tutored middle school students in math, English, social studies, science, and music.
Teaching Style
I believe teachers have an ethical responsibility to create a learning environment that engages students into learning. I believe that students being engaged in learning is critical not only to students achieving the learning outcomes, but also is also an important aspect of retaining the information they learn. Learning environments where students are engaged in learning are achieved through good classroom management, dynamic teaching, and through evaluating and reflecting on teaching practices. I feel that if I can motivate a student or a class of students into putting forth their best effort into their own education, then I have made the biggest impact I could have possibly made as their teacher.
