Experience Summary
I recently earned a BS in Physics, with minors in Mathematics, Economics, and Asian Studies. During my four years working toward my degree, I worked as a tutor to students of other physics courses as well as a teaching assistant to Professors. This enabled me to develop various teaching styles and practice the computational and comprehensive materials I had already learned.
Teaching Style
I like to begin tutoring a new student by having them review for me the material they have already learned. This allows me to develop a sense of their strengths and weaknesses, as well as their learning style. Often, I have students practice problems to reinforce concepts they already know and help build confidence in their problem solving abilities. In occasions of group tutoring, I try to have students help each other, as the teaching process is one that helps build a stronger idea of the concept at hand. I feel that I have thoroughly achieved my goal when a student has not only learned the material, but is able to demonstrate and teach the material back.
