Experience Summary
I have a wide range of teaching experience with K-12 students who have difficulty learning in a mainstream classroom. My academic background consists of a M.A.T. in Elementary Education, a B.A. in Audiology, and seven credit hours in graduate coursework. I have a valid Florida teaching license. My work history includes being a EDEP group leader and substitute teacher for Volusia County School District, teaching first grade, and working as a teacher of the hearing impaired and speech assistant for K-12 students in several public school systems.
Teaching Style
My teaching style addresses each student as an individual with unique abilities and strengths. I believe that it is important to create a positive learning environment for the child and instill a "can-do" attitude. I approach the teaching of a difficult concept by evaluating the child's current level of knowledge and using task analysis to scaffold increasingly progressive steps to achieve comprehension. My greatest reward in teaching is the recognition that lights up a child's eyes when he or she realizes that he or she can learn.
