Experience Summary
I have been volunteer teaching, tutoring neighbors and friends since high school including religious education.I am a Babson College Grad with 2 bachelors degrees & was one class short of a third in communications to achieve my degree upon graduating.I am an auditor by professions.During the past school year, I have been substitute teaching in the Attleboro Public School system.I am a math nerd by nature, but remain current on most subjects.By working with my own 10 yr-old son (5th gr), he was able to maintain an A average for the year & depart from the IEP/special ed. dept.I have a love of math, but would be happy and capable of tutoring any subject.
Teaching Style
I have enjoyed caring for & teaching children no matter what the individual need may be since I was 14.I have an enthusiasm for learning, but believe in gettting to know what each child finds interesting to reach him/her in order to spark the interest of learning & instill confidence, even if the thought was that the subject was 'yucky' or 'I cannot do it.'I believe all children are capable, given the opportunity, understanding & time.I think success stems from listening to the child, being able to translate that communication no matter what form into an educaitonal tool and then make it fun in a creative way.I think that a motivated child learns more quickly & retains a greater amount of information about the subject.
