Experience Summary
As a Controller, analyst and consultant of Computerized Accounting systems for small and medium sized businesses, I have 25 years plus, of extensive experience training and teaching both accounting and non-accounting executives how to data entry in 'subsidiary journals' like Accounts Receivable, Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets and how to reconcile to 'control accounts' in General Ledger. My approach to tutoring would be to explain the mechanics of recording business transactions (two sides to a transactions, thus "double entry") rather than rote learning.This would benefit them to pass exams as well as in business if they chose to pursue a career in business and finance.
Teaching Style
The most enjoyable and satisfying part of installing new Accounting systems in businesses was the opportunity to teach the accounting staff how to generate timely and accurate financial statements. Internal controls was an important component of each new introduction. I am patient with demanding staff and officers during the implementation process and afterward, during phone support calls. I would enjoy teaching and broadening young minds to appreciate the subject of accounting and become passionate about it as I am. After all,accounting is an elegant language of recording business transactions.
