Experience Summary
During my four years as an undergraduate at the University of Tulsa, in Oklahoma, I was able to gain extensive experience tutoring my peers in the School of Arts and Sciences, while earning my two bachelor degrees in the Fine Arts and the History of Art. Although my academic expertise lay primarily in English and the Arts due to writing and presenting original research, the University of Tulsa has also provided me with ample knowledge in the Maths and Sciences. In addition, as a teacher at an arts summer camp in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I have developed methods of teaching critical thinking and creative thought processes that are applicable and amenable not only to the arts, but to a variety of subjects as well.
Teaching Style
I believe that the relationship between student and teacher is one between equals, and that each must actively work together in order to accomplish a student's goals. This educational relationship and teaching style is heavily influenced by the Fine Arts and other creative pursuits that also maintains a strong hold on basic concepts in every subject. My role as a tutor, therefore, is to find each student's particular learning style in order to communicate fundamental knowledge in a subject, while also giving them the critical thinking and problem solving skills that will allow them to grow and enlarge their educational experience far beyond any single tutoring session.
