Experience Summary
My most recent experience has been as an adjunct mathematics instructor at Southwestern College. I have also taught GED Mathematics classes for San Diego Community College District Continuing Education department. In addition, I have taught mathematics and science courses at the high school level and Computer Application Courses at both the college and continuing education levels.
Teaching Style
I try to build on the student's current knowledge base. In teaching a topic I check for understanding at each step in the instruction and provide remedial help as necessary before proceeding to the next step. I try to address individual differences in students' backgrounds and learning modalities. I am patient with students when they encounter difficulties and will repeat the instruction using a slightly different approach. I incorporate praise and recognition of progress in my instruction to provide encouragement and build self esteem. I attempt to use problem examples of interest to students to motivate learning.
