Experience Summary
I am a graduate student working towards a PhD in Physics at Duke University. My previous experience in teaching has ranged from individual to group tuition at the high school and college level for subjects ranging from Mathematics to Chemistry and Physics. I have won teaching awards for teaching Physics to students at Duke. Previous students have gone on to pursue professional degrees in top institutions.
Teaching Style
My teaching philosophy is best summed up by the Confucian aphorism "I hear and I forget, I see and I remember. I do and I understand". In engaging students, I attempt to make the subject matter appealing and relevant to their lives, and highlight areas of common misconception. I encourage active participation in the student asking questions when in doubt. To build confidence in problem solving, I will be working problems in a style consistent with the students way of thought. Am most flexible in tailoring my teaching style to the individual's abilities and requirements.
