Experience Summary
I taught for 2 years at the Jericho School for Children with Autism. I worked for 2 years for a private Behavior Management Consultants(they are located in Tallahassee) doing 1:1 home programs for children with Autism. I have worked for Duval County School Board for the past 7 years working with Pre-K through 5th grade working with ESE and also regular ed. kids. I mentored last year while teaching with Ph D. students through a grant from the University of Florida called the Learning Literacy Cohort. We worked with our classroom students on different types of literacy interventions and to help them determine which ones work best.
Teaching Style
I believe that any child can learn. Some children learn things more quickly than others and usually they need material repeated numerous times before they can grasp the concept. I believe that if the chid is not learning it is up to the teacher to re-evaluate what he/she is doing in order for the student to be successful. I enjoy it when I see my students making gains whether big or small. It is important to ensure that the students have good self esteem and have pride in their work.
