Experience Summary
I have worked with students that have learning difficulties or special needs for over six years. Every child is capable of learning. Using the right techniques and materials is the clue to a successful learner. My degree in child development aids me in evaluating and assessing a childs' progressive development. My degree in elementary education gives me the techniques and strategies to enhance a child's learning capabilites. I have worked as primary education teacher for over ten years. With that I saw a need for working closely with the students that seem to struggle. My degree in Learning Disabilities affords me the capabilty to assess and evaluation each childs' learning style and cognitive awareness.
Teaching Style
I teach to the students' strenghts and interest. I identify the learning style and work from there. I make use of manipulatives to keep the child actively involved and to make learning fun. I am patient and love to work one on one with students. I believe all children have the capability to learn according to their own strenghts. All children do not progress at the same rate, however all children are capable of learning. Creating multiple examples and explaining things more than one way is a technique I use to enhance learning and keep children on task.
