Experience Summary
I have always found myself adept at teaching. I have a great deal of patience and a genuine fondness for instruction.
As a journalism major from UF, I gained extensive writing, research and grammatical skills. I am a proficient typist and have an intimate knowledge of computers and various programs.
I am grounded in functional math: an essential skill in reporting on the economy and science. I went up to pre-calculus in high school and took both Algebra and Logic in college.
Current events and history were both fundamental in my schooling.
My recent tutoring history is not formal, but I have helped many students and peers edit papers, understand their math homework and prepare for tests.
Teaching Style
The teachers who continue to influence me and affect my day-to-day life are those who had a genuine passion for teaching and a contagious love for their subject. They were the best teachers, not only because they possessed the necessary knowledge, but because they were animated and caring and able to cater to students' needs.
I believe all children can be made to see the benefits of education through the right teaching methods.
If there is anything I do not know, I am able to research and learn about it independently. The most memorable teachers did not always know the answer, but they always knew where to find it or how to help the students find it. I take these lessons to heart and hope to use them to help others.
