Experience Summary
I was recently motivated to get certified to teach in the state of Florida after serving as a long term substitute in a 2nd grade class. I have been a substitute in the state of Florida for 3 years for grades k through 12. I have particular interest and strong skills in the subjects of English, Language Arts, and anything Reading or Grammar related. I was a full-time English teacher at an Alternative School for grades 6-12. I was also fortunate enough to teach English as a Second Language, Basic Adult Education, and Incident Report Writing at a prison. I have earned two Bachelor's Degrees, BA in Communication and BA in Social Work. I am currently working on obtaining a Master's Degree in Education.
Teaching Style
I am very personable and use hands-on activities and a real-world approach. I attempt to relate the subject matter to how it will possibly be used in a real life situation as well as practical games which are geared toward strengthening the interest of the learner. I believe all people do not learn in the same way, therefore I attempt to discover the most effective teaching strategies for the student. I attempt to reinforce learning and positive gains with support and encouragement. I love teaching and learning and would like to share my enthusiasm with others who may be struggling.
