Experience Summary
As I graduated from college with my California State Teaching Credential,I was able to teach 2nd grade for the Los Angeles City School District for three years. During that time I sought to gain as much experience and expertise as possible to prepare me for teaching in a school for missionary children overseas. I studied Spanish intensively for a year in Mexico preparing me to work in Santiago, Chile where I taught first and second grade for almost 40 years. I am fluent in Spanish and have taught English as as second language.
Teaching Style
I have enjoyed very much working with children and I know that every student has his own learning style and my teaching must be adapted to them. I am patient, even with children who do not speak fluent English and I seek to encourage them to seek success. I believe a phonics approach to reading can help children learn to read quickly and confidently. I also believe a hands on approach to math can be very valuable to a child's learning. I seek to see each child achieve his potential and grow in self esteem.
