Experience Summary
I left Russia in 1993 when I was a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics of the Moscow Inst. of Chemical Engng Industry, Russia. After that I worked as a researcher in Germany, Austria, Italy, and USA (from 1998). Now my son is a student of Vassar Liberal Collage. I regularly taught all scholar math (advanced level) to him. From time to time, I also taught some parts of scholar math (including SAT) to other students of a high school. I usually carried out the lessons with either one or two students. Also explained (through the Skype) to my son all parts of Collage courses (undergrad level) of Linea Algebra, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Ordinary Differential Equations.
Teaching Style
My teaching goal is to prepare students to become responsible persons, self-motivated and independent individuals able to solve actual problems and to provide leadership in the technical world. I teach the students not to stop their thinking process once a numerical value has been calculated. I stress the meaningful interpretation of the predicted results and in agreement with physical units and the maximum allowed limits of the actual application. The most important things that I can teach are critical thinking, analytical skills, intellectual independence, and an ability to pose and answer questions that will not only allow students to understand the material that I teach, but will also follow them to other courses and beyond.
