Experience Summary
I worked with Upward Bound students while I was at Idaho State University for two summers. Upward Bound was a program designed for high school students who needed extra classes in order to graduate. The students lived in the dorms at Idaho State University, and I was responsible for making sure they were behaving, as well as tutoring them in subjects they needed help in. I was able to tutor students in English. I have also been a teachers aide, running reading intervention workshops for K-2nd grade. I own my own bookkeeping business, and my husband and I own a laser engraving business both of which have given me experience with bookkeeping and communication.
Teaching Style
I love working with children and helping them understand that they are in charge of their learning. I think that exposing them to real world applications, as well as the fun side of what they need to know encourages them to continue learning long after they no longer "have to". Understanding that all children learn differently, I try many different ways of approaching a subject, until we find something that makes sense.
