Experience Summary
I have worked as a para-educator since 1992 for the Yakima School District. My job is to translate and assist ELL students in the 8th grade mathematics and science classroom. I enjoy tutoring after school because some students learn best one on one and that gives me the opportunity to make a difference.
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a certificate to teach 5-12, I hope that I get the opportunity to teach and make a difference in the students’ school career by showing them how not to be afraid of the mathematics.
Teaching Style
I love mathematics and one of my passions is to teach it. I know that not everybody learns the same ways or has the same abilities for certain subjects and that is why I differentiate my instruction. I use the constructivist approach because I believe that students learn best by building on what they already know. I also like to use the Socratic questioning to make the students think critically which would help them throughout their lives.
