Experience Summary
I have been a teacher in public schools, private schools and college . Retired in 2007 from Newport News Public Schools with 24 years experience. Now working part time in a Catholic school in the mornings during the school year.I am available in the summer and most afternoons during the school year. I don't mind tutoring on a part-time basis to get ready for a big test or just catch-up. I have lived in Spain for 9 months where I became fluent in Spanish. I also speak French. I have taught at Bridgewater College, TCC in Virginia Beach. I have had over 3000 students over the years.
Teaching Style
I teach according to the highest possible standards in foreign language teaching. My emphasis is on listening and speaking first and then reading and writing. I believe as an American that our children will have to know Spanish in just a few short years and I dedicate myself to that preparation. I know the grammar inside and out and am currently enrolled in ODU to take a course in intense Spanish grammar study in the fall so I can recertify. I have a personal interest in all my students and the ability to get them to the point where they can understand and speak Spanish or French well according to their level. I enjoy teaching.
