Experience Summary
I have a B.S. in biology from West Virginia Wesleyan College. The college is a liberal arts school and I had to take a variety of course work aside from science classes. While I was in school I spent a summer in Australia with the School for Field Studies studying Tropical Ecology and Tropical Reforestation. I also spent a semester in Brazil with Antioch College traveling and learning with different ecosystems. I have experience writing preparing/carrying out experiments and writing reports. Since College I worked two years for a smelting plant in their lab. I currently work now as a medical lab tech for UPMC. I am pursuing my education by taking prereqs to get my masters in teaching.
Teaching Style
While I was in college I volunteered as a Young Life leader and worked with high school children. Right after college I joined Americorps. The program was for environmental education and we worked with all age groups. I have a passion for science and for learning. This is why I want to become a teacher and share my knowledge with others. I am laid back, patient, and a hard worker. I am a hands on type of learner and I understand that not everyone learns the same way. Therefore, I would do my best to understand how someone learns so I can best help them.
