Experience Summary
As the grandson of a French immigrant to the US, I have always shared a close connection to France, it's culture, and beautiful language. After falling in love with French film I added French as a second major, graduating with a BA in 2007. During school I had the opportunity to substitute teach middle school and high school students. After graduation I taught underprivileged high school students in a summer program and moved to France the following fall. While in France I taught conversational English to post-secondary students for a year. As you can see from my experience, I am comfortable with working with students of all ages.
Teaching Style
My goals in teaching are to stimulate interest, provide real life applicable skills, and facilitate cross-cultural understanding and communication. I believe that students can best achieve these goals through interactive and communicative means. In order to achieve this I prefer to use methods such as simulations, group work, and class or small group discussions. Through my experience I find that students are more interested when they are individually involved in the learning process.
