Experience Summary
As a student at UofU and BYU I tutored and was tutored myself. While attending BYU I worked in the student advisement center part-time, mentoring and helping students develop their schedules, and tutored them in subject matter from courses I'd already completed.
I served as a volunteer representative for the LDS church for two years in Denmark and Iceland. I speak fluent Danish and Norwegian, and I taught extensively on many topics to all age groups while over there. I've tutored other students, friends, and family in math and math-related fields(up to calculus III level math). I excelled at Math and English composition in school.
At my current job I train new team members in restaurant operations as well as handle restaurant finances. I currently work as a manager for Romano's Macaroni Grill in Provo, Murray, and Salt Lake.
Teaching Style
I believe above all that patience is key in teaching people of all ages. If the teacher's listening and communication skills are focused on the individual(s) being taught, the learner will let the teacher know when they are grasping and/or absorbing new material as well as when they(the student) reach their capacity.
I believe that in learning it's important to pace one's self, allow the mind time to digest new material, and in finding areas of learning that spark passion. Although I think periodic breaks are important, I also believe in advancing somewhat quickly(according to the students' abilities) and in using real-time examples and experience to facilitate and solidify learning. I do my best to teach kindly, effectively, and maturely.
