Experience Summary
I have worked as a writing tutor with a diversity of college students, ages 16-70, at Yavapai College, Prescott Campus, for the past ten years and continue to do so. I also worked at Yavapai College testing ESL students for several years during those years. In 1995, I taught English to elementary and middle school children in PR China for three months. Finally, I taught French at the Canterbury School in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1987-88.
Teaching Style
I love to tutor, and I am very knowledgeable about English and French. I believe I am effective as a tutor due to my patient and reinforcing personality, and I communicate my love of learning to my students. I use a variety of creative approaches to language learning which I have developed over the years. I believe in the inherent worth and potential of every student. My goal is not only to impart knowledge and learning strategies, but also to be a "coach" and a "cheerleader" in order that the student enjoy the learning process and feel supported.
