Experience Summary
I have worked as a personal tutor in the past, and have helped students with a variety of subjects from Trigonometry to Spanish. I have also worked with international students learning English. I experienced great academic success in high school (I earned very competitive scores on several AP and SAT exams), graduated as a valedictorian, and received a 4 year scholarship to attend California State University, Long Beach. In college I majored in Spanish, spent a year living and studying in Madrid, Spain, and graduated from CSULB with highest honors and distinction in my major. I have advanced proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish and am very passionate in helping others achieve the same.
Teaching Style
My tutoring style is very one-on-one and interactive. I encourage the students I tutor to ask as many questions as possible to get right to the root of why they are having difficulty with a certain subject. I enjoy students who are motivated to do well and who strive to get past their problems with learning. I try to explain things as thoroughly and concisely as possible in terms that a student would understand. Overall, patience, understanding, determination, and a sense of humor are all what makes for a positive tutoring experience for both the student and the tutor.
