Experience Summary
I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a degree in biology and chemistry minor. I finished with honors, while in the honors program and Phi Eta Sigma honor society and the Golden Key honor society. Throughout my college career I had the opportunity to be a teacher's assistant for a Human Systems course, and tutored peers in such subjects as General Chemistry I & II, Organic Chemistry I & II, and Biology I & II for two years. I mentored high school seniors and tutored them in the areas required for graduation. In the Dominican Republic I have worked with, and am still involved with, at-risk youth planning and implementing educational activities.
Teaching Style
I discovered my love for teaching and working with children in the Dominican Republic while on an alternative spring break working with at-risk youth living on the streets of the city of Santiago. With this experience I learned that one of the most important thing in the world is education, and I began my life as an educator. With tutoring I try to implement a facilitated teaching method that involves students pushing themselves to learn. As far as my teaching style goes, I think it is the role of the student to want to learn, and if they are struggling with this concept I work to motivate them to understand the necessity and great opportunities that education provides.
