Experience Summary
I am a green building and energy efficiency specialist with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Though I am a building scientist and love teaching math and the sciences, I take great pleasure and excel in creative and technical writing and have authored multiple books, essays, and scientific publications. Regardless of the subject, teaching is a personal and professional passion for me! My teaching experience includes tutoring children on multiple subjects; online university seminars; live workshops for ten to 100 people; exam prep courses; and train-the-trainer programs in India and Madagascar. I worked in or visited over twenty countries and speak fluent Hindi, French and English.
Teaching Style
Teaching is a reciprocal experience for the mentor and the mentee. I believe in fostering a learning environment for my students that is both participatory and relevant to a their individual learning style and interests. Working one-on-one with a child, adult, or in a small group is a privilege and affords the opportunity to do more than just teach; it is an important opportunity to help to empower someone to "learn how to learn." In my teaching, I believe that developing confidence, self-discipline, and appropriate learning tools is just as important as mastery of any particular subject. In any interaction with a student, I understand and value my role as a tutor, and I aim to inspire and to set a positive example.
