Experience Summary
I have studied French for a total of 5 and half years in high school and in college. I double majored in International Business and French receiving a High Honors in French, where I tutored other students. I also studied in France completing 2 summer programs there; one for French Language at the Sorbonne University of Paris in 2005 and the other completing an internship working full-time in 2006 with a French company in Paris via Boston University. I have since my graduation in 2007 been working with primarily Canadian clients as an English/French speaking representative, which has kept my skills sharp.
Teaching Style
French was my favorite subject in school and it definitely is my passion. I now use French daily in my career but when I first started taking it in high school, I had no idea how far it would take me. I would very much like to impart the wisdom and skills that I have learned to other students and help them achieve their goals. I'm a very patient and easy going teacher but I believe in having a good vocabulary and grammar skills, mixed with conversational skills. Finding the courage to speak French can be daunting, and the only way to overcome that is to practice; something that does not happen often in a 50 minute classroom setting. I would also include phonetics, which is learning to speak like a native and that is the point after all!
