Experience Summary
I worked as a tutor while attending college. This opportunity provided an enormous amount of experience due to the fact that I tutored my peers. I developed techniques to separate the non-tutorial relationship in order to best help students. The department was short staffed which required me to provide assistance outside of my specialties of math and science. Developing quick learning techniques were essential in order to comprehend and then redescribe the learning objective with which the student needed help. I quickly developed a list of “clients” who would return frequently for help. I take a great deal of pride in my work and I am always looking for new techniques to add to my repertoire in order to instill a love for learning.
Teaching Style
I am an energetic instructor. I find it is more enjoyable for the children and allows for them feed off my energy. I understand that sometimes a subject or idea can be rather difficult to comprehend therefore I will be extremely patient and persistant with helping the child until the topic is not only managable but understood. I am also aware that frustration is the number one enemy of learning. My upbeat attitude and ability to reiterate an idea allow for many different ways for the child to absorb the material.
