Experience Summary
As a student, I really enjoyed going to school. I was extremely successful and I knew early on that I wanted to become a teacher. On my way to becoming a teacher, a became a recreation coach and this position allowed me to practice on becoming more familiar with students likes and dislikes outside the classroom. My passion to teach students has allowed me to become in tune with the academic needs of my students. I would say that even though I can teach all core subjects at the elementary level well, teaching reading is my strong suit.
Teaching Style
Whenever I have the opportunity to tutor, I try to explain to the students that fun is just as important as focus. I like to express that having a high level of focus will allow them to pick things up and retain information. I like using data to analyze their strengths and weaknesses. I pride myself on having the students understand that even though they are having fun learning that they must carry themselves accordingly and good behavior is imperative.
I am considerate, patient, and focused while I tutor. I provide students with extra support materials that help reinforce their weakest areas.
