Experience Summary
I earned a B.S. in Mathematics with an emphasis on logical thinking. The rigorous course work associated with an undergraduate degree in Mathematics has allowed me to navigate through life's decision-making tree with great accuracy. After completing 7 years in the financial services industry, I turned to continued learning in technology at different universities. During that period I had the opportunity to gain approximately 2 years experience as a substitute teacher and tutor. Recently, I have focused on helping and tutoring high school athletes who are showing promise in possibly going to college on scholarship.
Teaching Style
A student matriculating through the public education system has a much higher hurdle to cross than I did 20 years ago. The financial burden associated with gaining a higher education and the increased academic challenge can sometime require added time and attention. In tutoring, my goals are to help the student cover as much material as quickly as possible. I encourage a growing student to allow me to help him get over those time consuming problems by saving them for our tutoring session as opposed to struggling, alone. Such study habits help the student prepare for college, while striving to refine his or her study skills.
