Experience Summary
My undergraduate degree is in Civil Engineering and I have recently become eligible to teach elementary education, middle school science and middle school math in New Jersey.
I have had success as a tutor on several occasions as an undergraduate teaching assistant and a peer tutor. Currently, I am assisting two students in high school math and they are both responding well.
Teaching Style
A tutor has a unique opportunity to quickly learn the teaching styles required for the individual student. This is best accomplished by listening carefully to the student to establish where the roadblocks to learning are occurring. Ultimately, the student and tutor need to function as a team with a single objective. I feel that I have a passion for learning and that passion is felt by each of my students. If I can get each student to admit that "Math isn't so bad after all" then learning will follow naturally.
