Experience Summary
I graduated from Bemidji State University with my Early Childhood Elementary degree in 2007 and for the last two years I have been a k-3 Literacy Tutor with the Minnesota Reading Corps.
While I was at BSU I was active with the local girl scouts, and in three years I was a Studio 2B counselor, a pixie camp coordinator, a troop leader, and the co-community coordinator.
At BSU I had a variety of different labs and practicums. I was a reading and science tutor, I was placed in a head start classroom, and I had four different student teaching experiences: toddler, preschool, kindergarten, and first grade.
My most rewarding position, however, has been as a reading tutor with MRC at an elementary school in Duluth, MN.
Teaching Style
I believe that all children should have the opportunity to be successful and the best way to help them realize that potential is by hands on direct instruction. I specialize in literacy with early learners, and I especially feel that the window of opportunity for children to become proficient readers should be met by the third grade.
I will work with you and your child to ensure that your child will find success. By creating a supportive atmosphere I will help your child achieve success, whether they need help with reading, writing, social studies, or even studying and test taking skills.
