Experience Summary
With my M.A. in English from St. Bonaventure, I have the teaching and tutoring experience needed to help students of all ages reach their full academic potential. I tutored undergraduates with writing assignments by giving them undivided attention to help facilitate their unique needs. I learned to be patient and understanding, but I also learned I have an energetic passion for aiding students with reading and writing. In my two semesters instructing a writing course, I used my diverse teaching styles and inventive skills to help my students become better writers and readers. In high school, I peer-tutored for the elementary speech teacher; I learned how to use multiple learning activities for students who needed extra inspiration.
Teaching Style
Throughout my tutoring and teaching experiences, I have encountered students with disparate learning styles; therefore, I have learned to be patient and to employ multiple teaching methods (PowerPoint, peer workshops, handouts, and individual conferences) that appeal to all learning styles while inspiring, educating and promoting academic excellence. Students of all ages are influenced by the world around them, so it is absolutely imperative that I connect with my students to teach them the importance of reading and how to read the world and texts around them. I instruct my students, but I also inspire and befriend them through my articulate and energetic teaching styles that ensure my students reach the height of their academic potential.
