Experience Summary
I have been teaching children of all ages for over 25 years. My primary expertise has been in music education. I have been employed in public, private and parochial schools throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Not only have I created traditional lessons for children in the classroom, but I have also gained experience as a musician, performing in a variety of ensembles, bands and musical productions. I have used my personal experiences to develop curriculum for all ages of children, with great success.
Teaching Style
I use a variety of teaching styles and methods for children. I use various styles of music, composers and performers in lesson plans. Currently I am using books on music and musicians as part of my lesson plans. I believe literature is extremely important in teaching children. I am direct with children in my classroom. I give them expectations, I set goals, and I follow through. It is important for an instructor to state exactly what is expected of the student in order to help them achieve their goals.
